A beautiful project : Bottlenose Dolphins of the Patos Lagoon, in Southern Brazil When I see this I keep thinking of my "road not taken" many years ago, when I considered being a biologist. Oh well, too late now.

Lu,

What a heart warming photo! About becoming a biologist, you still can pursue your dream. Many people start new study at age 40, 50, and 60. I began writing in English when I was about 50. I'm glad I did. But I don't think anyone really took me seriously then including my children. This is not my complaint though. They were all supportive, I must say.

Lu, One of the great things about life is it's not always a straight line and we can reinvent ourselves and have second and third "roads" many times. If you think in small chunks, your dream may still be a reality. It could be now, four months from now, or a few years a way--or maybe more. Don't give up your passion. I'm sure your road will open up and you will find a way to line up with the road, even if not in a clear cut way.

And what great examples from Keiko and Jitu!

Keiko,Dr. J, and Rebb, thank you so much for your support! I don´t say "too late" out of bitterness, though. I´m fine with it. I just wonder what it would be like, you know? Would I be a completely different person? Would I have met the same people I have?
I love everything related to Biology, but I also love the literary world.
Writing is a flexible activity, and there´s no age for that. I´m happy you chose that, because that´s how I met you :-)
As for the dolphins (botos), I grew up trying to spot them on the beach. I´d love when we´d arrive on the beach and people were saying:"look! you can see the botos today!". And there they were, far into the ocean, flipping. Nice memories.

Lu,

I do the same about dolphins and whales. We are all excited when we spot them. Since you live in Brazil whick is so famous with nature and Amazon, I hope you write about all those exotic animals, insects, and butterflies. We need to find out more about how to save them and coexist even in cities.
